Happy New Year everyone! I hope it is off to a fabulous start for you all. It’s always exciting to start the year with a clean slate and a fresh list of spectacular goals. Two of my goals this year are to implement strategies which focus on organization and becoming more efficient at writing blog posts for our website. Well, I fumbled the ball and got off to a slower start than anticipated. I am now ready to run the field with that ball. Forgive my failed attempt with the football metaphor. A house full of boys it’s bound to happen:)
Organization is a powerful tool when it comes to interior styling and designing. Do you ever struggle with creating the ultimate family room space where you can gather, unwind, and reconnect? If so, you probably realized that you need to formulate a plan to design this perfect spot we call the heart of the home. Where do you start? Organization is a great place to start. An organized room is inviting and brings a calm presence to any space. As we begin every New Year, it seems the keyword we often hear is organization. If I’m completely honest with you, this is not my area of expertise. I love organized spaces but it just takes me a little longer to get there, and I think of every excuse along the way to procrastinate the process for our own home. So, if I can pull it together so can you.
Consider these questions when you’re designing a space designated for family and friends to reconnect:
- Design Layout: Is it a comfortable space to gather?
- Color Pallet: Is space warm and inviting and is there plenty of light?
- Organization and Storage: Is there enough room for everyone’s stuff to be placed neatly away when not in use?
- Furniture and Decor: Are the items dual purpose, functional, and of course pretty?
- Price: Is it affordable, does it work with your budget, and still provide a design WOW?
Check out these styling options we recently put together for a client:
- Bookcases: Home Decorators
- Curtains: Prospect and Vine
- Couch: One’s Kings Lane
- Rug: Target
- Black Chair: Blue Fly
When working with a client’s space, organizing is a big part of the design element especially when the location is a designated place for family and friends to gather and reconnect.
